How this converter works
Safari on a Mac or iPhone opens HEIC itself; other browsers first load an open-source HEIC decoder (libheif, compiled to WebAssembly) from this site. No photo is sent to a server. The PNG holds the picture only, so the location and camera details in the original stay behind.

No. The page converts them inside your browser. Nothing about the images, not even their names, is sent anywhere.
Does the PNG keep the location and camera details?
No. The copy has the picture only, which is useful when you are about to share it.
What happens to a Live Photo?
The still photo converts. The moving part is a separate video file, and it is not included.
