When PNG is the right choice
PNG keeps transparency and loses no detail when it is saved, which makes it the better choice for logos, icons, stickers, screenshots and anything you will edit again. For photos, a JPG is usually a fraction of the size, and the WEBP to JPG converter makes one.
Why the PNG is so much bigger
Most WEBP images on the web are lossy: some detail was thrown away to make them small. PNG stores every pixel of what is left exactly, so a 100 KB WEBP photo can become a PNG of a megabyte or more. The PNG does not bring back what the WEBP lost; it keeps what is there without losing more.

Are my images uploaded?
No. The page converts them inside your browser. Nothing about the images, not even their names, is sent anywhere.
Is the transparent background kept?
Yes. Transparent and partly transparent pixels stay exactly as they were in the WEBP.
What about animated WEBP files?
PNG here is a still image, so an animated WEBP converts as its first frame.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Choose or drop as many as you like and each gets its own download link. Download all saves every one; your browser may ask once whether the page can download several files. Very large batches are limited by your device's memory.
