Booking KNM, ONA and the A2 exams
- Log in to Mijn Inburgering with DigiD.
- Choose the date and the place of the exam.
- You get a confirmation by email and by letter. A week before the exam a letter from DUO gives the place, date and time.
Book well ahead: DUO says it can take more than 6 weeks before you can sit an exam. If you cannot log in, DUO has a paper form (Aanmelding inburgeringsexamen); then the letter with the date comes within 3 weeks of paying.
You can change the place or date of an A2 exam in Mijn Inburgering up to 1 week before the exam. Cancel at least 1 week before and you get your money back.
Booking the staatsexamen Nt2 (B1 and B2)
- You book in Mijn DUO with your own DigiD, about 8 weeks before the exam date. You can book several parts at once.
- You cannot book a part you are already registered for or still waiting on a result for.
- About 10 days before the exam, once DUO has your payment, you get the oproepbrief (invitation letter) with where and when.
- Cancel at least 4 weeks before the exam to get your money back.

If you are an asylum status holder (asielstatushouder), the municipality pays for your course, and your first 2 attempts at each exam are free, as long as you sit them at least at the level in your PIP. A third attempt you pay for yourself, and you cannot borrow for it.
If you are not a status holder, for example a family migrant, you either pay for the course and exams yourself or borrow from DUO. A loan only covers schools on the approved list at zoekinburgerschool.nl.
Ready to prepare? Start with the KNM study notes, which every route except the Z-route includes.
