To remove location from one iPhone photo before sharing it, open the photo, tap Share, tap Options, and turn off Location. To clear location from photos already in your library, select them, open the More menu, choose Adjust Location, then choose No Location. Remove location when sharing an iPhone photo

Treat Location in Share Options as a per-share choice and check it each time. “All Photos Data” is a separate option for AirDrop and iCloud links that can include an original file, edit history and metadata; leave it off when the goal is a limited shared copy.

Other metadata a photo can still contain
Location is the part everyone thinks about, but it is not the only thing in the file. A photo also carries the date and time to the second, the device make and model, the lens, the exposure settings, the software version, and sometimes an editing history. Together, those can tie a set of photos to the camera that took them, even when no coordinates survive.
Clearing GPS is not proof that every metadata field is gone. Inspect the actual shared file if device, capture-time, IPTC or XMP fields matter. Metadata Remover is a Mac-only option for making a broader clean copy without re-encoding the image; it does not perform these steps on the iPhone itself.
FAQ
Does removing location reduce photo quality?
It should not, and with this app it cannot: metadata lives in separate blocks in the file, so removing them leaves the compressed image untouched. Some tools decode and re-encode the picture to write the file back out, and that does lose quality. That is the difference to look for.
Do screenshots contain location data?
Do not assume this universally. A screenshot normally has no camera GPS capture, but software can add or preserve metadata during editing or export. Inspect the file you will share.
Does sending a photo through Messages or WhatsApp strip the metadata?
Behavior differs by service, selected sharing option and app version, and can change. Remove location in Photos before choosing the destination when that is your goal, then inspect a received copy if other metadata matters.
